Asset Accounting now calculates cost and depreciation automatically, invoices disposals, and adds opening-balance takeover and an income-tax depreciation book.
Depreciation now runs on actual days with automatic catch-up
Depreciation uses the actual 365 or 366 days of the year and includes the capitalisation day. Missed periods are caught up automatically, so the total is the same whatever the run frequency. The depreciation key's start-date and pro-rata rules now apply. Multi-Level bands are chosen for the period being run, and Fixed % uses cost less salvage. Run frequency is now a per-company setting, and a WDV rate helper is available on depreciation keys.
Asset acquisition value is now calculated by the system
The acquisition value on an asset is read-only and starts at 0. It is built up only from posted documents: asset receipts, non-PO vendor invoice lines coded to the asset, manual acquisitions, additional costs and takeovers. This fixes asset receipts doubling a typed value. A manual acquisition now updates the asset's value, and reversing it takes the value back off.
Salvage percentage and currency simplified on assets
Salvage % is set on the asset class, the depreciation key or the asset, and the salvage amount follows the cost. Currency is optional and defaults to the company currency.
Clearer capitalisation of assets under construction
The capitalisation screen says why Propose is unavailable. An asset created in a construction-in-progress class starts as Under Construction, and capitalisation moves it into the final class. Cost comes from PO lines, non-PO vendor invoices and expense reclassification.
Income-Tax Depreciation screen
A new statistical income-tax book works per block of assets. It handles opening values, the half rate for additions under 180 days, short-term capital gain under s.50, and Final and Reopen.
Opening Balances (Takeover) screen for the asset register
You can load existing assets by template, validate the file and post it, then check a GL reconciliation. A file with a bad row is refused as a whole. It supports legacy SAP numbers, sub-numbers as sub-assets, mid-year depreciation to date and remaining life.
Asset disposals raise a customer invoice and can be reversed
A sale or scrap sale with proceeds now creates and posts a customer invoice together with the retirement. Depreciation is charged up to the day before disposal. Partial disposals retire a value, and quantity is optional. Indian companies get the s.18(6) CGST reversal. A posted disposal can be reversed, which reverses the journal and invoice and restores the asset. The asset register shows the disposal columns.
More accounts and settings on asset classes
Asset classes now have separate Gain, Loss and Written-off accounts, an Asset Sale Clearing account, a tax-book salvage % and an Income-tax block. Construction-in-progress classes have a 'Settles Into' final class.
